Lisa Bernard
I have worked at the school since September 2007, initially as a class teacher and then as Maths Subject Leader, Assistant Head, Head of School and took up the post of Headteacher in September 2016. I had previous experience as a governor for eight years (1999 - 2007) at the local Infant School my two children attended. I was Chair of Governors there for 4 years and it was whilst in this role that I decided to re-train, as a teacher, achieving a First Class BA Honours Degree with Qualified Teacher Status at Northampton University in July 2007. "For me, teaching is both a passion and a priviledge that gives me the opportunity to help so many children to realise their potential and prepare for their future lives in an ever changing world."

I have been a primary teacher since September 2005 and started working as Deputy Headteacher and English Lead at Clifton in September 2021. I enjoy all subjects but I'm happiest when teaching either creative writing or music - especially when the music involves hitting things with sticks! On the rare occasions when both my job and my two children allow me the time, I enjoy playing the drums, writing a blog and trying - unsuccessfully - to keep fit.

I have been at Clifton for 15 years, so long that it feels like my second home! I love to share exciting learning experiences with the children I teach and am really lucky that I get to be creative every day and that every day is different.
In my own time I enjoy visiting theme parks with my two boys, Sam and Nate to ride rollercoasters!

I decided I wanted to become a primary school teacher when I was inspired by my extremely caring and nurturing Year 2 teacher. I undertook a four-year teaching degree at Warwick University, specialising in English, qualifying in 2002.Since working at Clifton-Upon-Dunsmore, I have become the R.E. subject lead and R.E. teacher across the school. This is a role I am extremely passionate about as it helps children to gain a deep awareness and understanding of their own and others’ unique identities as they explore life’s big mysteries. When I'm not teaching, my two boys keep me busy with art and craft projects, outdoor pursuits like body boarding and we enjoy adventures in new countries.

I have worked at Clifton Primary School since September 2023
Originally I am Polish and I am working as a 1:1 Teaching Assistant. I am privileged to be able to support an amazing child with special needs which brings me lots of joy. My personal belief is that every child is unique and deserves the opportunity to learn and succeed in an inclusive, friendly, understanding and supportive atmosphere. My previous work experience includes: nurseries, residential home for children with additional needs, and a school where I worked as a TA supporting children with a visual impairment. I myself am a parent carer with lived experience of parenting two children, one of which is a SEND child.

"Following a career in international market research publishing, I decided to retrain as a Primary School Language Teacher, specialising in teaching languages (French and Spanish). I have worked both as a Class Teacher and, more recently, in support roles spanning age ranges from pre-school to A-Level. I enjoy keeping fit (swimming, kickboxing classes, walking and running), sewing and jewelry-making. I also love reading and have been running my own book club for many years."

My name is Reverend Ian Sweeney, but I like to be called Rev Ian, especially in school. I’m married to Stacey and we have three children, we also have three slightly mischievous cats. I’m a Curate of Clifton, Newton and Christ Church in Brownsover where I’m enjoying learning how to become a Vicar. It’s all very interesting! I am particularly looking forward to getting to know the staff and children at Clifton School, and helping them to explore the Christian faith.
